Rotator Cuff Injury & Tear

The tendons and muscles that stabilize the humerus (upper arm bone) in the socket of the shoulder are collectively known as the rotator cuff. Tears to these structures happen with awkward and forced movements of the head, and are usually described as a deep, aching pain that aggravates into a stabbing pain when the arm moves above shoulder level. Weakness of the arm follows as a result of the lack of use, and with enough injury, surgery is the only intervention possible.
